What this device is actually good for, and when something else is worth a look.

This bundle only earns its keep if you already have — or are about to install — a PV system; without one, the Controller only contributes dynamic load balancing. The 11 kW variant natively plugs into a red CEE 16 A socket: no adapter raises it past 11 kW, because the charger itself caps current at 16 A. Have a stronger three-phase supply? The 22 kW bundle with the same Controller gives a higher power ceiling for a similar price. Adapters to weaker sockets than the native CEE plug are not included — they are bought separately. An electrician has to mount the Controller (ideally at the distribution board), route the current transformers to the main supply lines, and connect it to the network — via Ethernet or WiFi 2.4 GHz — plus add an external Type A RCD and upstream breaker, since the charger's DC module (6 mA DC / 20 mA AC) does not replace them. It is not suited to billing between tenants or a fleet — the meter has no MID certification. It does work with any PV inverter and AC-coupled battery storage, though, since it only measures the building's draw rather than talking to the solar installation directly.

An electrician handles the installation.

Does this work without an internet connection?

But the Gemini flex charger's own documentation notes that connecting to the Controller for PV-surplus charging needs the charger's own internet connection — so in practice, internet-connected networking is part of the requirement.

Why is this bundle 11 kW and not 22 kW — can I change that later?

The 11 kW variant has a native red CEE 16 A socket, and the charger itself caps current at that level — no adapter raises it. Adapters are not included in the bundle; they are bought separately and can only lower the power, never raise it. For a higher ceiling you need the bundle's 22 kW variant.

Does the bundle include an MID-certified billing meter?
