The EvCompass verdict

The key arguments drawn from the published data and the EvCompass editorial summary.

It charges at up to 175 kW on an ordinary CCS charger with no proprietary connector, and the platform is stated to be adaptable to inductive charging too — unusual in this class. TICO is one of the few makers that kept a two-speed Volvo Penta gearbox instead of going direct-drive like Kalmar and Autocar, arguing it gives better gradeability under load — motor power stays unpublished because it is Volvo's unit, not TICO's. The real commercial hook is Build America, Buy America compliance, which unlocks EPA Clean Ports Program grant funding for US port operators — but this is a US-only offer, not available in Poland, with a top-end GCW of 72,575 kg and no published price.

Strengths

  • 175 kW on an ordinary CCS charger with no proprietary connector simplifies buying the charging infrastructure.

Weaknesses

  • BABA compliance and EPA Clean Ports funding apply only to the US market — the vehicle is not offered in Poland.

On charging
175 kW maximum DC fast charge, and TICO markets 'no proprietary charging required' - the vehicle takes ordinary CCS depot chargers. The next-generation platform is also stated to be adaptable to inductive (wireless) charging, which is unusual in this class. The earlier 132 kWh version was quoted at a full charge in about 45 minutes on a 150 kW DC charger.

Measurement basis
Not applicable - TICO publishes runtime, not range. The 312 kWh configuration is rated at 15 hours of runtime pulling double-stack containers on bomb carts, which is the heaviest duty cycle a terminal tractor sees. Lighter distribution duty on the smaller packs is not separately quantified.

Price and availability

What it costs and whether it is available in Poland

Published price evidence and the Polish availability answer, kept together for a buying decision.

The manufacturer publishes no price for this vehicle.

In heavy transport that is the rule rather than the exception — makers quote on request.

No published list price. Sold and leased through US dealers (Ballard Truck Centers, Fleetsource Leasing). The BABA compliance claim is the commercial hook: it makes the vehicle eligible for EPA Clean Ports Program grant funding, which for US ports frequently covers a large share of the purchase.

Poland

Not available in Poland

Not offered in PL. TICO builds in Ridgeville, South Carolina, rates in pounds, and markets the Pro-Spotter EV explicitly on Build America, Buy America (BABA) compliance so that US port operators can claim EPA Clean Ports Program funding - a US-only commercial proposition. Sold through US dealers (Ballard Truck Centers, Fleetsource). n/a for Poland.

Research notes

The sources and research notes behind the figures, claims and editorial assessment.

TICO's electric terminal tractor, built around a Volvo Penta driveline - Volvo Group supplies the batteries, driveline and e-accessories, including a Volvo 2-speed gearbox, which makes TICO one of the few electric terminal tractors that has NOT gone direct-drive (Kalmar and Autocar both deleted the transmission in their current generations). TICO argues the 2-speed gives better gradeability under load. CONFLICTING BATTERY FIGURES - the editor must pick a generation. TICO's live product page still states '132 kWh total onboard energy' and a 45-minute full charge at 150 kW, which describes the earlier vehicle. The next-generation Pro-Spotter EV announced in May 2024, with full production from 2025, is a modular platform in 116-inch and 128-inch wheelbases offering 104, 208 or 312 kWh, a 175 kW maximum fast charge, a top-end 160,000 lb GCWR and 61,000 lb-ft (about 82,700 Nm) of wheel-end torque. This record describes the next-generation vehicle; the 132 kWh figure belongs to its predecessor. torqueNm is left null deliberately: the only published torque figure, 61,000 lb-ft, is WHEEL-END torque after gearing, not motor output torque, and putting it in a motor-torque field would misrepresent it by an order of magnitude against the other records here. Motor power is not published - the driveline is Volvo Penta's and TICO does not quote kW. Battery chemistry not published. gcwKg 72,575 is the top-end 160,000 lb GCWR; lighter configurations in the modular range are not individually rated in public material. Commercially, the interesting part is the BABA (Build America, Buy America) compliance, which unlocks EPA Clean Ports Program grant funding for US port operators - the single biggest driver of electric terminal-tractor sales in the United States right now.
