YOKOHAMA, Japan – The Nissan Formula E Team is ready for the decisive battle at ExCeL London in rounds 15 and 16 of the 2024/25 ABB FIA Formula E World Championship, focused on claiming the Teams' and Manufacturers' titles. Heading into the season's final races, the team sits second in both standings but has no intention of stopping there – after Oliver Rowland's Drivers' title triumph in the previous round in Berlin, the ambitions are even higher.

For the final race weekend, the Nissan Formula E Team will unveil a special turquoise version of its signature cherry blossom livery. The new color scheme references the launch of the all-new Nissan LEAF, which – like its predecessors – will be produced in the United Kingdom. The third generation of the fully electric Nissan LEAF has been developed using data and experience gathered since 2010, when the world's first mass-produced zero-emission electric car debuted. Insights from nearly 700,000 units sold over 15 years have enabled a modern, family-oriented model with bold and dynamic styling.

The Nissan Formula E Team's previous appearance in London, in 2024, ended in great success. Oliver Rowland delivered an outstanding performance, climbing from ninth on the grid to victory to the delight of the British fans in the grandstands. On the other side of the garage, Norman Nato will again take the wheel of the #17 Nissan e-4ORCE 05, looking to extend his strong run at ExCeL London, where he has scored points in three of the last four races.

The 2.09-kilometer circuit is the only semi-indoor venue on the Formula E calendar – its loop runs both through the interior of the ExCeL London exhibition center and around the nearby Royal Victoria Docks. The narrow track layout significantly complicates overtaking, making starting position – and therefore qualifying – more important than ever. The best attacking opportunities will come at Turn 1 and on the outside section – on the approach to the Turn 10–11 chicane – just before returning to the hall at Turn 16.

On-track action begins on Friday with first practice at 16:00 (local time, UTC+1), qualifying is scheduled for 12:20, and the race start is set for 17:00 on both Saturday and Sunday.

Team quotes

Tommaso Volpe, Managing Director and Team Principal of Nissan Formula E Team, said: "We are pleased to arrive in London already as winners of the Drivers' World Championship title, while at the same time we still have a real chance to fight for the Teams' and Manufacturers' titles – which has been our main goal since the start of the season. We are also happy to welcome Norman back, as he missed the previous round. We have very good memories of the London circuit – we finished last year's race here with Oliver's win. Both he and Norman have shown strong pace here many times, and the fact that the Drivers' title is already settled allows us to adopt a more aggressive strategy and fully focus on scoring maximum points for the team. Although closing the gap to the leaders will not be easy, I have full confidence in our engineers and drivers – we are ready to give everything to finish this season on top."

Oliver Rowland, driver, Nissan Formula E Team: "I really like the London circuit, although I only managed to achieve success here last season. We've been racing at this venue for several years now, so everyone knows it well. It's a fun track to drive, and we understand exactly what the car needs, especially in terms of energy management. Part of the surface has been refreshed recently, which – I hope – will translate into better grip. I expect physically demanding races where overtaking will not be easy. Well-chosen strategies for using Pit Boost and Attack Mode will be key. After securing the Drivers' World Championship title in Berlin, I feel relaxed, but we still have something to fight for in the Teams' and Manufacturers' standings. So this weekend we'll give it our all and try to fully enjoy these last two races of the season."

Norman Nato, driver, Nissan Formula E Team: "I'm happy to be back in London. I like the challenges this circuit poses – it has everything that defines the character of Formula E, and the changing surface conditions inside and outside the hall make putting together a perfect lap difficult. This further complicates car setup, especially in variable weather conditions. Even so, I have great confidence in our team and I'm convinced we are in for a strong end to the season. Our goal is clear – we want to take the titles in the Teams' and Manufacturers' standings. We will do everything in our power to make that happen."

Sérgio Sette Câmara, reserve and simulator driver, Nissan Formula E Team: "The London circuit definitely stands out from the other venues on the Formula E calendar and is one of my favorites. The most obvious difference is its semi-indoor layout. It takes a few laps to get used to driving inside the hall, but it's a really great feature of this track! The layout is similar to Tokyo – very narrow and twisty, which makes overtaking difficult. Thanks to all-wheel drive, Attack Mode is now significantly more powerful than during the previous rounds at this track, so qualifying pace and a well-thought-out strategy will be key – it can make the difference in the fight for a solid result."

Nissan in Formula E

Nissan debuted in electric car racing in season five (2018/19) of the ABB FIA Formula E Championship as the first and only Japanese manufacturer in the series.

In season seven (2020/21), Nissan announced its long-term commitment to Formula E and outlined plans spanning the GEN3 car lifecycle, running from season nine (2022/23) through the end of season twelve (2025/26) of the series.

In April 2022, Nissan announced the acquisition of the e.dams racing team and became the sole owner of its own entry in the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship.

In June 2022, Nissan announced it would supply McLaren Racing with its electric powertrain technology for the entire lifespan of GEN3 vehicles.

Prior to the first-ever Tokyo E-Prix on 28 March 2024, Nissan announced its intention to commit to Formula E over the long term. It is the first manufacturer to declare GEN4 racing planned through 2030, confirming its electrification goals set out in the Ambition 2030 strategy.

In the eleventh season of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship, Nissan's drivers are Oliver Rowland and Norman Nato.

Nissan takes part in the electric car world championship to show a global audience the excitement and joy of using zero-emission vehicles. As part of its goal to achieve carbon neutrality across its operations and product lifecycles by 2050, Nissan intends to electrify all new vehicles in key markets by the early 2030s. The Japanese manufacturer wants to use technology refined on race tracks to design ever-better electric cars for customers on everyday roads.

Formula E

The ABB FIA Formula E World Championship is the first international sport to be certified as net carbon neutral before staging its first race in 2020. This was made possible by investments in climate-protection projects across all markets where races are held, offsetting emissions from subsequent seasons of electric racing.

All cars competing for the championship title are equipped with electric powertrains, and the series enables the testing and development of the latest electric system technologies.

The world's largest car manufacturers compete on city circuits, and Formula E supports the introduction of sustainable mobility principles in city centers to fight air pollution and reduce the effects of climate change.
