The EvCompass verdict

The key arguments drawn from the published data and the EvCompass editorial summary.

Volvo quotes installed and usable capacity separately here — 565 kWh gross is 452 kWh net — which eases comparison with the European range, where the same company does it differently. A four-pack configuration shortens the route accordingly. No EU homologation; in Europe you buy the FM or the FH.

Strengths

  • A 452 kWh usable battery gives 442 km of range and DC charging reaches 250 kW, giving the VNR a complete regional profile.

Weaknesses

  • The guide gives 377 kWh for the small configuration while the page footnote says 452 kWh usable, so the battery figures conflict.

Price and availability

What it costs and whether it is available in Poland

Published price evidence and the Polish availability answer, kept together for a buying decision.

The manufacturer publishes no price for this vehicle.

In heavy transport that is the rule rather than the exception — makers quote on request.

Volvo Trucks North America does not publish an MSRP. California HVIP lists the VNRe as eligible for a base voucher of $120,000 (Class 8) / $85,000 (Class 7 straight truck), but HVIP's public vehicle pages carry the voucher amount only, not a base price. No verified transaction price found.

Research notes

The sources and research notes behind the figures, claims and editorial assessment.

CONFLICT on the small battery: the volvotrucks.us page footnote says '565 kWh represents 452 kWh usable energy, 375 kWh represents 300 kWh usable energy' while the printed product guide says '4 Batteries: 377 kWh'. 565/452 (6 packs) is used for the headline. Weights converted from Volvo's US figures: GCW 82,000 lb = 37,195 kg (6x2/6x4 tractor); straight-truck GVW 54,000 lb = 24,494 kg (6x4) / 33,000 lb (4x2). Torque 4,051 lb-ft = 5,493 Nm. Power is quoted as 340 kW / 455 hp continuous; no peak figure is published. Two-speed I-Shift automated transmission, top speed 65 mph. The truck has been in customer hands since 2021; Volvo reported 20 million customer miles by Oct 2025 and 750+ battery-electric trucks operating in the US and Canada by May 2026. Volvo Trucks North America previewed a next-generation VNL Electric in May 2026 (separate record).
