The EvCompass verdict
The key arguments drawn from the published data and the EvCompass editorial summary.
There is no battery capacity, no range, no charging power and no motor rating — a marketing announcement rather than a product, and it must be treated that way in any comparison. We keep the entry so the name does not start circulating with assumed figures. North America only.
Strengths
- The Proterra Onyx platform and clearly stated regional, drayage and city uses give the programme a defined direction.
Weaknesses
- Zero published technical specifications.

Research notes
The sources and research notes behind the figures, claims and editorial assessment.
Preview only, announced 4 May 2026. Volvo has published NO technical specification: no battery capacity, range, charging power, motor rating or GCW. Confirmed facts: it is the fourth truck on Volvo Trucks North America's new platform (after the new VNL, new VNR and a previewed vocational model), it is aimed at regional haul, drayage and city distribution, and it uses Proterra's Onyx Battery Platform built in South Carolina (Proterra is part of the Volvo Group). One third-party site (ad-hoc-news.de, Jul 2026) quotes 'around 450 kWh usable' and 20-80% in about 90 minutes, but that is unsourced and is NOT recorded here. Included so the catalogue reflects the announced pipeline; every spec field is deliberately null.
