Terberg RT253EV 4x4 RoRo
300 kWh (or 200 kWh) and a gearboxless 4x4 driveline — the RT253EV never measures range because its whole working day is spent on a ferry deck and in the port.

Buying decision
The EvCompass verdict
The key arguments drawn from the published data and the EvCompass editorial summary.
Diesel exhaust on an enclosed ferry deck is the worst air-quality problem in a terminal — that is the case for the RT253EV, Terberg's first electric 4x4 tractor, not range, which the maker does not publish because this vehicle never leaves the terminal. The regeneration system reacts to the combination's gross weight, so it saves differently coupled to a mafi trailer than running bobtail — the main energy and brake-wear saving Terberg cites in ferry shuttle work. Motor power, torque and peak charging power remain unpublished; that data has to come from the distributor. In Poland it can be ordered through Terberg Tractors Polska (Warsaw), the importer since September 2024, though the launch covered the Benelux, the UK and Scandinavia, and the natural application is the RoRo terminals of Gdańsk, Gdynia and Świnoujście — with no published price.
Strengths
- The regeneration system reacting to the combination's weight cuts energy use and brake wear in shuttle work.
Weaknesses
- Terberg does not publish motor power, torque or peak charging power — comparing it on paper is not possible.

Battery and charging
- Gross battery
- 300 kWh
- On charging
- CCS2 fast charging, standard on the model; Terberg does not publish a peak kW figure for the RT253EV (unlike the YT201EV's 260 kW dual-gun system). Advanced thermal management is standard. The regeneration system adapts to changes in gross combination weight - i.e. it reacts to whether the tractor is running coupled to a trailer or bobtail - which Terberg cites as the main consumption and brake-wear saving in ferry shuttle work.

- Measurement basis
- Not applicable - a RoRo/yard tractor works inside a terminal and on and off ferry decks; Terberg publishes no range figure and none would be meaningful. Two battery options, 200 kWh or 300 kWh; the 300 kWh pack is recorded as the headline. Terberg publishes no operating-hours figure for this model either.

Price and availability
What it costs and whether it is available in Poland
Published price evidence and the Polish availability answer, kept together for a buying decision.
The manufacturer publishes no price for this vehicle.
In heavy transport that is the rule rather than the exception — makers quote on request.
No published price. Terberg quotes through its distributor network; in Poland that is Terberg Tractors Polska.

Available in Poland
Terberg Tractors Polska sp. z o.o. (Warsaw) has been the sole official Terberg importer, dealer, service and rental provider for Poland since September 2024, and its published range explicitly includes RoRo and industrial tractors alongside terminal tractors. The RT253EV's stated launch markets are the Netherlands, Belgium, the UK and Scandinavia, so a Polish order would run through Terberg Tractors Polska on enquiry rather than off a Polish price list. Polish ferry and RoRo terminal capacity (Gdansk, Gdynia, Swinoujscie) is the natural application.

Recommended chargers
Chargers matched to the vehicle's published power or to a clearly stated duty profile when that figure is missing.
This vehicle does not publish its own DC charging power. The chargers below are matched to a charging profile typical for this class of vehicle (around 150 kW), not to a figure this vehicle publishes.

Research notes
The sources and research notes behind the figures, claims and editorial assessment.
Terberg's first electric four-wheel-drive tractor, launched 2025 and aimed squarely at RoRo ferry work - shunting mafi trailers and cassettes on and off ferry decks, where a diesel's exhaust in an enclosed vehicle deck is the single worst air-quality problem in the terminal. That is the whole argument for this machine and is why Terberg leads on the quieter, cleaner working environment 'inside ferries and on the dock' rather than on any range or efficiency claim. 4x4 driveline with high axle capacities, no gearbox (a ZF CeTrax asynchronous traction motor drives directly), advanced thermal management, CCS2 fast charging and Terberg Connect telematics as standard. Batteries 200 or 300 kWh. Available left- or right-hand drive. axleConfig is recorded as null rather than forced into the schema's 4x2/6x2/6x4 enumeration: this vehicle is a 4x4, which the enumeration does not cover. Do not silently record it as 4x2. What is NOT published, and should not be inferred: motor power, torque, GCW, fifth-wheel lift capacity, charging peak kW, battery chemistry. Terberg directs enquiries to distributors for the datasheet. The RT-series diesel siblings are RT223/283/323/403; do not carry their ratings across. The main competitor in this exact niche is the MOL RME225, a Volvo Penta-powered electric 4x4 RoRo tractor, also recorded in this group. Terberg and MOL are now the only two manufacturers offering a series-production electric 4x4 RoRo tractor.
