The EvCompass verdict

The key arguments drawn from the published data and the EvCompass editorial summary.

This is the most honest range table in the whole set: three weights, three numbers, no single headline. The 40 differs from the 45 only in continuous power — 400 kW instead of 450 — so choosing between them is about performance, not range. Its 750 kW MCS has been orderable since May 2026.

Strengths

  • Range quoted at three combination weights instead of one marketing number.

Weaknesses

  • The maximum 560 km applies at 29 t gross combination weight, but it falls to 360 km at 64 t.

Price and availability

What it costs and whether it is available in Poland

Published price evidence and the Polish availability answer, kept together for a buying decision.

The manufacturer publishes no price for this vehicle.

In heavy transport that is the rule rather than the exception — makers quote on request.

No public list price. Polish trade survey covers 'Scania 45 R/S BEV' at PLN 1.8-2.4 m net; the 40-series sits at or slightly below the bottom of that band. NFOSiGW grant up to PLN 750k per N3 vehicle.

Poland

Available in Poland

Same Scania Polska sales and service network as the 45 R; the 40 and 45 are the same vehicle with different continuous power ratings. No Poland-specific 40 R delivery has been separately announced - Polish deliveries reported so far (Schavemaker, PepsiCo) were 45 R.

Research notes

The sources and research notes behind the figures, claims and editorial assessment.

Identical hardware to the 45 R/S apart from the continuous power rating of the EM C3-6 electric machine (400 kW / 540 hp instead of 450 kW / 610 hp). S-cab version is marketed as the 40 S BEV. Scania's mid-range EM C1-4 machine offers 270/300/330/360/400/440 kW continuous and the EM C1-2 offers 210/240 kW, which in principle generate further power-badged designations, but Scania does not publish a badge list for those - do not invent designations such as '30 P' or '24 G'. All battery, charging and GTW caveats from the scania-45-r-bev record apply here unchanged.
