The EvCompass verdict

The key arguments drawn from the published data and the EvCompass editorial summary.

Trade press of the day noted it cost more than twice an equivalent diesel — one of the few price mentions from that period and a useful reference point for today's payback conversations. Nine packs gave 300 kWh installed and charging of only 130 kW. Replaced by the 40 and 45 R platform.

Strengths

  • A 300 kWh battery, 250 km of range and 130 kW charging give the 25 P BEV a complete set of core figures.

Weaknesses

  • Scania publishes no usable capacity, so the 300 kWh installed battery does not say how much energy reaches the drivetrain.

Price and availability

What it costs and whether it is available in Poland

Published price evidence and the Polish availability answer, kept together for a buying decision.

The manufacturer publishes no price for this vehicle.

In heavy transport that is the rule rather than the exception — makers quote on request.

Never listed publicly. Contemporary trade reporting only noted the BEV cost 'more than double an equivalent diesel'.

Poland

Polish availability not established

No Polish delivery of the first-generation 25 P/25 L BEV was found; Scania Polska's first publicised electric truck was the 45 R in June 2024. The model has since been superseded by the 2023 BEV generation.

Charging infrastructure

Recommended chargers

Chargers matched to the vehicle's published power or to a clearly stated duty profile when that figure is missing.

This vehicle charges at up to 130 kW DC — the chargers below are matched to that figure.

Research notes

The sources and research notes behind the figures, claims and editorial assessment.

Scania's first series battery-electric truck, launched for sale in mid-September 2020 and sold as 25 P BEV (P cab) and 25 L BEV (low-entry L cab). Rigid urban distribution truck; the '25' badge predates the current power-in-tens-of-kW convention. BATTERY: five packs = 165 kWh installed, or nine packs = 300 kWh installed. One pack sits in the former engine tunnel, the rest along the chassis. Usable capacity was never published; batteryGrossKwh is the nine-pack figure and 165 kWh is the smaller option. POWER: 230 kW (310 hp) continuous / 1,300 Nm, 295 kW (395 hp) / 2,200 Nm peak (Australian-market road test; Scania's own release only quoted 230 kW). WEIGHT: an Australian-market 25 P 4x2 was quoted at 16,000 kg GVM with 8,900 kg tare, available in 4x2 and 6x2 with 3,950-5,750 mm axle distance. EU GVW ratings were not confirmed, so gvwKg is left null rather than carrying an Australian figure into an EU record. STATUS: superseded by the 2023 'next level BEV' generation; no longer configurable. Marked discontinued rather than cancelled.
