Independent heavy-vehicle dossier

Renault Trucks E-Tech C

540 kWh and 500 km, but with a top-up during an hour-long break — that is a duty-cycle figure, not range on one charge.

The EvCompass verdict

The key arguments drawn from the published data and the EvCompass editorial summary.

Renault quotes a value here that cannot be set against rivals' range, because there is a charge sitting inside it — a reader needs to know that before comparing 500 km with anything else in this table. The vehicle itself is a construction machine: 44 tonnes combination weight, 490 kW of power and a 6x2 layout. Renault Trucks Polska advertises up to 60 percent of public co-funding.

Strengths

  • A 500 km range from a 540 kWh battery and 250 kW charging give the E-Tech C a concrete heavy-duty profile.

Weaknesses

  • The claimed 500 km includes a charge during a break.

Measurement basis
manufacturer: 'up to 500 km with a DC charge during a 1-hour break' - this is a duty-cycle figure with an intermediate charge, NOT a single-charge range. Renault does not publish a single-charge range for the E-Tech C.

These are manufacturer-published figures gathered through EvCompass research.

Research notes

The sources and research notes behind the figures, claims and editorial assessment.

Construction-oriented sibling of the E-Tech T, assembled at Bourg-en-Bresse alongside it since late 2023 and mechanically equivalent to the Volvo FMX Electric. Battery 360-540 kWh in 4-6 packs; GCW up to 44 t; three PTOs (electrical, mechanical, transmission). Available as a 4x2 tractor and 4x2/6x2 rigid per the UK product page, with an 8x4 Tridem rigid shown in Renault's own press images - the published axle matrix is not complete on the public page. axleConfig is set to 6x2 as the most common rigid layout. Renault publishes power as 'up to 330-490 kW (450-666 hp)' without labelling continuous vs peak; only the 490 kW top figure is recorded. The 'up to 500 km' headline is explicitly conditioned on a DC charge during a 1-hour break, so it must not be presented as a single-charge range.
