The EvCompass verdict
The key arguments drawn from the published data and the EvCompass editorial summary.
The jump from 150 kW to 350 kW of charging matters more here than the capacity increase: the first generation had to stand still, the second fits inside a break. Peterbilt offers three battery options and the 322 km refers to the largest. California's HVIP no longer publishes base prices, so even that window has closed.
Strengths
- A 500 kWh usable battery and up to 322 km of range pair the new platform with 350 kW CCS charging.
Weaknesses
- The range spans 161–322 km depending on battery, so the headline 322 km applies only to the largest configuration.

Price and availability
What it costs and whether it is available in Poland
Published price evidence and the Polish availability answer, kept together for a buying decision.
The manufacturer publishes no price for this vehicle.
In heavy transport that is the rule rather than the exception — makers quote on request.
No published MSRP. California HVIP no longer publishes base MSRP on its vehicle pages (it now shows only voucher amounts): the 579EV carries a $120,000 base HVIP voucher and $150,000 for drayage. Peterbilt's Sourcewell cooperative-purchasing contract (expanded to the EV lineup on 4 Aug 2026) has pre-negotiated pricing but does not publish it.

Research notes
The sources and research notes behind the figures, claims and editorial assessment.
Two generations. Gen 1 (orders from 2021): Meritor 14Xe tandem e-axles, 396 kWh, ~150 miles, 150 kW charging, 670 hp (500 kW) peak / 536 hp (400 kW) continuous. Gen 2, announced at ACT Expo on 28 April 2025 and recorded here: PACCAR ePowertrain with a midship-mounted dual eMotor and integrated 3-speed transmission, three battery options, 350 kW charging, up to 200 miles. IMPORTANT: PACCAR quotes USABLE capacity for its North American BEVs - the MY26 HVIP spec sheet labels the options '250 kWh / 375 kWh / 500 kWh (Usable Capacity)', so batteryGrossKwh is left null. HVIP still lists a 396 kWh option alongside 250/375/500 kWh, which is the gen-1 pack. Peak power options are 470 / 540 / 605 hp, all at 1,850 lb-ft; Kenworth maps the same PACCAR ePowertrain as 350 kW = 470 hp and 450 kW = 605 hp, and quotes 365-470 hp continuous, so motorPowerKwCont 350 / motorPowerKwPeak 450 are the top ratings. Torque 1,850 lb-ft converted to 2,508 Nm; GCWR 82,000 lb converted to 37,195 kg. Front axle 12,000-14,600 lb, rear 38,000-46,000 lb. Wheelbase 190 in or longer, factory lift axles available. ePTO provisions 25 and 150 kW. No MCS - PACCAR's North American BEVs are all CCS1. NOTE: peterbilt.com's own spec panel still carries some gen-1 numbers (150 kW max charging, 400 kWh, 670 hp) alongside the gen-2 marketing copy; the press release and HVIP spec sheet were preferred.
