Independent heavy-vehicle dossier

Mercedes-Benz Trucks eEconic

336 kWh and 150 km in mixed operation, but only 100 km in pure refuse collection — the eEconic quotes both figures.

The EvCompass verdict

The key arguments drawn from the published data and the EvCompass editorial summary.

That gap shows where the energy actually goes: in refuse collection the vehicle powers a compactor and stops constantly, so kilometres are the worst possible measure of its work. The low entry is a safety requirement for the loading crew, not styling. In series production at Wörth since July 2022.

Strengths

  • Range quoted separately for collection and for mixed operation.

Weaknesses

  • Range falls from 150 km in mixed operation to 100 km in refuse collection, so body and duty cycle change the usable result.

Measurement basis
Manufacturer: up to 100 km in pure urban refuse-collection duty and up to 150 km in mixed operation, with three battery packs. Mercedes states the range covers the vast majority of typical refuse-collection routes without charging en route. Headline figure taken as the 150 km mixed-operation number; the 100 km figure is the refuse-collection case.

Price and availability

What it costs and whether it is available in Poland

Published price evidence and the Polish availability answer, kept together for a buying decision.

The manufacturer publishes no price for this vehicle.

In heavy transport that is the rule rather than the exception — makers quote on request.

No public list price. Municipal eEconic purchases in Germany are typically tendered and were supported by the KsNI funding programme, but no per-unit figure was found during research.

Poland

Polish availability not established

Not confirmed. The eEconic is a Europe-wide Mercedes-Benz Trucks product built at Woerth and the Polish MB Trucks organisation sells the Econic range, but no Polish eEconic listing, homologation statement or municipal delivery was found during research. Treat availability in Poland as unverified.

Recommended chargers

Chargers matched to the vehicle's published power or to a clearly stated duty profile when that figure is missing.

This vehicle charges at up to 160 kW DC — the chargers below are matched to that figure.

Research notes

The sources and research notes behind the figures, claims and editorial assessment.

Municipal low-entry heavy rigid, series production at Woerth since July 2022 (second battery-electric Mercedes-Benz truck after the eActros); trade-show premiere at IFAT Munich on 30.05.2022. Shares its drivetrain with the first-generation eActros 300: three battery packs, 336 kWh installed, Mercedes electric rigid axle with two motors and a two-speed (plus two reverse) transmission, 330 kW continuous / 400 kW peak, 160 kW CCS charging. IMPORTANT: the first-generation eActros 300/400 were discontinued at the end of 2025, but Mercedes-Benz Trucks explicitly confirmed the eEconic continues in production on the same hardware. Two configurations: 6x2/4 ENA three-axle at 27 t GVW (kerb 9.2 t, payload approx. 17.7 t) - the record's headline - and a 4x2 two-axle at 19 t GVW (kerb 8.1 t, payload approx. 10.9 t), which would be N3 as well. Top speed 89 km/h. The 530 Nm figure Mercedes publishes is the 60-second peak torque available at the MECHANICAL PTO for driving a refuse-body superstructure, NOT the traction motor torque - torqueNm is therefore left null to avoid a misleading comparison. Battery chemistry is stated as lithium-ion; NMC is inferred from the shared first-generation eActros pack (CB400) rather than stated for the eEconic specifically - treat as MEDIUM confidence. Related: Mercedes-Benz Trucks also unveiled a 'reECONIC', a battery-electric eEconic demonstrator built from recycled materials (circular-economy showcase, not a separate model).
