MAN Truck & Bus hTGX
600 km on 56 kilograms of hydrogen, but this is a combustion engine — the hTGX burns hydrogen rather than oxidising it in a fuel cell.

The EvCompass verdict
The key arguments drawn from the published data and the EvCompass editorial summary.
The H45 engine is a direct-injection hydrogen unit built on the D38 diesel — cheaper and simpler than a fuel cell, but still with pistons and still emitting nitrogen oxides. In zero-emission terms it belongs to an entirely different shelf from a battery-electric, and the two should not be set side by side. Refuelling takes under fifteen minutes.
Strengths
- 600 km on 56 kg of hydrogen and refuelling in under 15 minutes give the hTGX a concrete profile without plug-in charging.
Weaknesses
- Burning hydrogen emits nitrogen oxides, unlike a fuel cell.

This is a hydrogen vehicle — the figure describes range on one tank fill, not on a battery, and is not comparable with battery-electric range.

Price and availability
What it costs and whether it is available in Poland
Published price evidence and the Polish availability answer, kept together for a buying decision.
The manufacturer publishes no price for this vehicle.
In heavy transport that is the rule rather than the exception — makers quote on request.
No price published for the small series.
Poland
Not available in Poland
Poland is not among the announced launch markets (Germany, Netherlands, Norway, Iceland plus selected non-European markets), and there is no 700-bar heavy-truck hydrogen refuelling network in Poland. Not orderable in Poland.
Charging infrastructure
Recommended chargers
Chargers matched to the vehicle's published power or to a clearly stated duty profile when that figure is missing.
This vehicle does not publish its own DC charging power. The chargers below are matched to a charging profile typical for this class of vehicle (around 350 kW), not to a figure this vehicle publishes.

Sources and research
Research notes
The sources and research notes behind the figures, claims and editorial assessment.
NOT A BATTERY-ELECTRIC VEHICLE. The hTGX is a hydrogen INTERNAL COMBUSTION truck: the H45 engine is a direct-injection hydrogen conversion of MAN's D38 diesel, built in Nuremberg. It has no traction battery, no plug and no charging port. Every battery and charging field is deliberately null. It is included here only because the brief asked for it; if the catalogue is BEV-only it should be excluded or clearly badged as H2-ICE. Engine: 383 kW (520 hp), 2,500 Nm at 900-1,300 rpm. Storage: 56 kg CGH2 at 700 bar, range up to 600 km, refuelling under 15 minutes. MAN states the hTGX will meet the under-1 g CO2/tkm threshold to count as a 'zero-emission vehicle' under the planned EU CO2 regulation - a regulatory classification, not a physical claim of zero tailpipe emissions (hydrogen combustion still produces NOx). Small series of about 200 units from 2025, initially in 6x2 and 6x4 for heavy and special transport (construction, tanker, timber). The three vehicle images are MAN winter-testing photographs used in the announcement; they show TG-series trucks and are not confirmed as hTGX prototypes. Verify before publishing as hTGX photography.
