The EvCompass verdict
The key arguments drawn from the published data and the EvCompass editorial summary.
The 161 km is quoted as on-the-job miles rather than highway range — and Mack says so outright, which is more honest than most claims in this set. A new battery generation in 2022 added 42 percent more energy on the same pack count. The only public sum comes from the mayor of Mobile, Alabama, and is an approximation rather than a list price.
Strengths
- Range stated outright as a duty cycle, not as a journey.
Weaknesses
- 161 km is a refuse-duty-cycle figure rather than a road range, so it cannot be carried over to line-haul work.

Price and availability
What it costs and whether it is available in Poland
Published price evidence and the Polish availability answer, kept together for a buying decision.
600,000 USD
Confidence: Low
Not an MSRP. The mayor of Mobile, Alabama put the price tag of the city's first Mack LR Electric at 'approximately $600,000' when it was delivered in July 2022 - a single municipal purchase, body included, before incentives. California HVIP lists the LR Electric at a $120,000 base voucher. Mack publishes no list price.

Research notes
The sources and research notes behind the figures, claims and editorial assessment.
Mack's battery-electric refuse chassis, in production since 2021 with a next-generation battery package announced in March 2022 that added 42% more energy for a standard 376 kWh. Four NMC lithium-ion packs at 600 V; two AC motors, 400 kW / 536 hp peak and 334 kW / 448 hp continuous, through a 2-speed Mack Powershift with 4,051 lb-ft (5,493 Nm) peak output torque. GVWR 66,000 lb = 29,937 kg; payload up to 25,500 lb = 11,567 kg; Mack FXL20 20,000-lb front axle and S462R 46,000-lb rears (hence 6x4). Charging is 150 kW SAE J1772/CCS1. Range is quoted only as 'up to 100 on-the-job miles', which is a refuse-route figure. Mack does not publish usable battery energy. The California HVIP catalog page for the LR Electric that the brief pointed at now 404s; the MD Electric page still resolves and carries voucher amounts but no MSRP - HVIP's public vehicle pages do not publish base prices.
