Kalmar Ottawa T2E 2nd-generation electric
220 kWh is the top of three battery options — the T2E is the predecessor to today's T2 EV, discontinued in 2025.

The EvCompass verdict
The key arguments drawn from the published data and the EvCompass editorial summary.
This generation kept the transmission that its successor replaced with a direct-drive motor on the rear axle — one of three headline changes in the T2 EV, alongside the DC FastCharge system and active battery-temperature management. Kalmar never published a motor power figure, a torque figure, or a charging rate for the T2E. Even so, a large fleet of these tractors is still working in North American terminals.
Strengths
- The 220 kWh pack was the largest of three second-generation T2E configurations, giving operators a choice of energy reserve.
Weaknesses
- Kalmar publishes no charging power, torque or GCWR for the T2E, so the older generation cannot be compared with a complete set of figures.

Battery and charging
- Gross battery
- 220 kWh
- On charging
- CCS1 DC charging. Kalmar did not publish a peak charging rate for this generation; reducing charge time was one of the three headline changes it made when replacing the T2E with the T2 EV in 2025, so T2E charging was materially slower than the successor's 122 kW inlet.

- Measurement basis
- Not applicable - terminal tractor. Kalmar published battery options rather than range or runtime for this generation: 132 kWh (standard, described as a 3-box configuration), 176 kWh and 220 kWh. 220 kWh recorded as the headline.

Price and availability
What it costs and whether it is available in Poland
Published price evidence and the Polish availability answer, kept together for a buying decision.
The manufacturer publishes no price for this vehicle.
In heavy transport that is the rule rather than the exception — makers quote on request.
No public list price when new. Used T2E units from model years 2019-2021 appear in North American dealer inventory (RWC Group Phoenix, Excel Truck Group), which is the only realistic public price signal for this generation, and those listings are 'call for price'. The T2E was in the California HVIP eligible-vehicle catalog for model years 2019 and 2020 but was removed on 25 March 2020 when terminal tractors were transferred to the CaliforniaCORE.org programme; HVIP's archived listing carries no base price.

Not available in Poland
Never offered in PL. North-American product built at Ottawa, Kansas with a CCS1 inlet and pound ratings, and now out of production. n/a for Poland.

Recommended chargers
Chargers matched to the vehicle's published power or to a clearly stated duty profile when that figure is missing.
This vehicle does not publish its own DC charging power. The chargers below are matched to a charging profile typical for this class of vehicle (around 150 kW), not to a figure this vehicle publishes.

Research notes
The sources and research notes behind the figures, claims and editorial assessment.
Included for completeness because the catalogue wants the full picture including superseded models, and because a large installed base of T2E units is still working in North American yards. Kalmar's second-generation electric terminal tractor, model years 2019 onward, superseded in 2025 by the third-generation T2 EV / OT2 EV. Three battery options: 132 kWh standard (a 3-box configuration), 176 kWh and 220 kWh, lithium-ion. Class 7 and 8, 4x2. The key engineering difference from its successor is that the T2E RETAINED A TRANSMISSION. Kalmar's own launch material for the T2 EV lists deleting the transmission in favour of a direct-drive motor on the rear axle as one of the three headline changes, alongside adding the DC FastCharge system and the active thermal management system. So T2E figures should never be used as a proxy for the current vehicle. Regulatory history that dates the vehicle usefully: the T2E was listed in the California HVIP eligible-vehicle catalog for model years 2019 and 2020 and removed on 25 March 2020, when terminal tractors moved from HVIP to the CaliforniaCORE off-road programme. CORE then removed terminal tractors entirely on 7 July 2025, declaring the category commercially mature. GAPS: no motor power, torque, GCWR, fifth-wheel rating, charging rate or battery chemistry could be found in public sources for this generation - Kalmar's current site carries only the T2 EV brochure. NO VERIFIED REFERENCE IMAGES: the archived HVIP listing carries only a placeholder graphic, and dealer inventory photography could not be resolved to stable direct image URLs. An editor wanting imagery should approach Kalmar or pull from a used-equipment listing, and must check that the photo shows a T2E and not the visually similar diesel Ottawa T2 or the newer T2 EV.
