Iveco S-eWay Fuel Cell (FCEV)

800 km on 70 kilograms of compressed hydrogen — this is the fuel-cell version of the S-eWay, not the battery one.

The EvCompass verdict

The key arguments drawn from the published data and the EvCompass editorial summary.

Two 100 kW fuel-cell modules, a 164 kWh traction battery and an electric axle rated 400 kW continuous — the engineering is serious, but the units delivered so far were funded through the EU's H2Haul demonstration project rather than by sales. Hydrogen at 700 bar needs infrastructure Poland does not have. Pre-production.

Strengths

  • 800 km on 70 kg of hydrogen and refuelling in under 20 minutes create a strong, clearly specified fuel-cell profile.

Weaknesses

  • Requires hydrogen refuelling at 700 bar.

Measurement basis
manufacturer, up to 800 km on 70 kg of compressed hydrogen

This is a hydrogen vehicle — the figure describes range on one tank fill, not on a battery, and is not comparable with battery-electric range.

These are manufacturer-published figures gathered through EvCompass research.

Price and availability

What it costs and whether it is available in Poland

Published price evidence and the Polish availability answer, kept together for a buying decision.

The manufacturer publishes no price for this vehicle.

In heavy transport that is the rule rather than the exception — makers quote on request.

No price published. Units delivered so far were part-funded through the EU H2Haul demonstration project and via hylane's hydrogen-truck rental model.

Poland

Not available in Poland

No Polish deployment found; the trucks delivered so far went to German and Swiss demonstration fleets. Poland has effectively no HRS network for 700-bar heavy-duty refuelling.

Charging infrastructure

Recommended chargers

Chargers matched to the vehicle's published power or to a clearly stated duty profile when that figure is missing.

This vehicle does not publish its own DC charging power. The chargers below are matched to a charging profile typical for this class of vehicle (around 375 kW), not to a figure this vehicle publishes.

Research notes

The sources and research notes behind the figures, claims and editorial assessment.

FLAG: FCEV, not BEV. Powertrain: two 100 kW fuel-cell power modules (>200 kW combined), a 164 kWh traction battery, and an FPT eAxle rated 400 kW continuous; 70 kg H2 at 700 bar; 44 t rating. Deliveries to date are demonstration fleets, not series sales: two units to BMW on 20 February 2025 as the first vehicles of the EU H2Haul project, three units to German hydrogen-truck lessor hylane in May 2025, and a Coop Switzerland deployment in the Zurich region. One secondary source (timharper.net) claims Europe-wide pilots in 2026 and a ramp to 50-100 units/year by 2027-28 - that is a third-party projection, not an Iveco statement, and I have not carried it into the fields. Note the naming: Iveco markets this as S-eWay Fuel Cell / S-eWay FCEV, not 'S-Way FCEV'.
