The EvCompass verdict
The key arguments drawn from the published data and the EvCompass editorial summary.
This one is a piece of industrial history: sold first as the Nikola Tre BEV, then as an Iveco after the joint venture was bought out. It was replaced by an LFP version with a smaller usable battery but a larger claimed range — 585 kWh and 600 km — which shows how much in this class rides on the driveline rather than on capacity alone. Out of production.
Strengths
- A 635 kWh usable battery and 500 km of declared range give the S-eWay Artic a complete heavy-tractor profile.
Weaknesses
- Peak charging power has not been confirmed for the NMC version, so the 500 km range has no stated return-to-road rate.

Research notes
The sources and research notes behind the figures, claims and editorial assessment.
This is the same vehicle Iveco launched in July 2023 as the 'Iveco Heavy Duty BEV' - the ex-Nikola Tre BEV built at Ulm, rebadged after Iveco bought out the Nikola JV in May 2023 (the JV became EVCO). Battery: nine 82 kWh Microvast NMC pouch-cell packs = 738 kWh gross, ~86 % SoC window = ~635 kWh usable, 485 kg per pack, 169 Wh/kg at pack level (batterydesign.net). electrive's October 2024 interview with Iveco's Christian Sulser quotes '750 kWh / 500 km' for the then-current truck, which conflicts slightly with the 738 kWh figure - 738 kWh is the engineering number and 750 kWh looks like a rounded marketing figure. Superseded from 2026 by the 603 kWh LFP Artic; recorded here as discontinued so the catalogue keeps both battery generations distinct.
