The EvCompass verdict
The key arguments drawn from the published data and the EvCompass editorial summary.
The record was driven at an average of 50 km/h, in conditions chosen for the result rather than for work — but it is still a measurement rather than a claim, and on that count it is worth more than most numbers in this database. The 680 kWh battery weighed about 4.5 tonnes, which against an 18-tonne permitted weight shows the real price of that range. The record is often misattributed to the Semi 40E.
Strengths
- Range confirmed by measurement rather than by manufacturer claim.
Weaknesses
- The model is marked discontinued and the Logistics 18E name was superseded by the High Cab family, so this record is mainly historical.

Research notes

The record truck. Volvo FH conversion for DPD Switzerland, 680 kWh - the largest truck battery in Europe when it launched in June 2020 - weighing about 4.5 t, driven by four electric motors for 500 kW / 680 hp. On 12 June 2021 at Continental's Contidrom test track (Wietze, Lower Saxony) it covered 1,099 km on a single charge in 23 hours, 392 laps at an average 50 km/h and 58 kWh/100 km, on Continental EfficientPro tyres - a Guinness World Record for greatest distance by an electric rigid truck on a single charge. CAUTION: several secondary sources attribute this record to the 'Semi 40E'. It was not - it was a 19 t-class rigid Volvo FH conversion, the Logistics 18E. Marked discontinued because the model name has been superseded by the High Cab rigid range. Axle configuration not published; left null.
