Freightliner eM2

291 kWh and a typical 402 km in Class 7 — the eM2 is the eCascadia's lighter brother and travels further than it does.

The EvCompass verdict

The key arguments drawn from the published data and the EvCompass editorial summary.

It is a clean illustration of how mass governs this class: a smaller battery in a lighter vehicle gives a longer route than a bigger one in a heavy vehicle. Freightliner also offers the eM2 in Class 6 — we describe the heavier variant here, because only that one belongs in a heavy-truck listing. No price.

Strengths

  • A typical 402 km range from a 291 kWh usable battery gives the eM2 a concrete distribution result.

Weaknesses

  • Freightliner publishes no DC charging power for the eM2, so its typical range has no stated energy-recovery time.

Manufacturer 'typical range': 250 miles (approx. 402 km) for the Class 7 with the 291 kWh pack and 180 miles (approx. 290 km) for the Class 6 with the 194 kWh pack. Headline is the Class 7 figure. Freightliner positions the eM2 for local distribution of roughly 80-350 km per day.

Price and availability

What it costs and whether it is available in Poland

Published price evidence and the Polish availability answer, kept together for a buying decision.

The manufacturer publishes no price for this vehicle.

In heavy transport that is the rule rather than the exception — makers quote on request.

No MSRP published; Freightliner directs buyers to dealers for a quote. No verifiable fleet-order or HVIP base price was found during research.

Poland

Not available in Poland

n/a - North American product only, sold through the Freightliner dealer network in the US and Canada. Not offered in the EU.

Charging infrastructure

Recommended chargers

Chargers matched to the vehicle's published power or to a clearly stated duty profile when that figure is missing.

This vehicle does not publish its own DC charging power. The chargers below are matched to a charging profile typical for this class of vehicle (around 160 kW), not to a figure this vehicle publishes.

Research notes

The sources and research notes behind the figures, claims and editorial assessment.

CLASS HONESTY: the eM2 is offered in Class 6 AND Class 7 form. vehicleClass is recorded as 'Class 7' because that is the heavier variant and the only one that belongs in a heavy-truck catalogue; the Class 6 version (194 kWh usable, 180 miles typical, 26,000 lb / 11,793 kg GVWR, 190 HP continuous in Economy mode) is the lighter half of the same model and is described here rather than given its own record. Recorded figures are the Class 7 ones: 291 kWh usable, 250 miles typical, GVWR 33,000 lb (14,969 kg), continuous 255 HP (190 kW) in Economy mode. Approximate tare weights 12,980 lb (Class 6) and 16,230 lb (Class 7). Day Cab 106" BBC; length 319-391", width 100", height 102.5" (137.4" with roof fairing). CONFLICT in Freightliner's own material: the eM2 product page says the Class 7 uses a DUAL-motor eAxle (23,000 lb-ft) while the specifications page says 'Single Detroit eAxle'. Unresolved - flagged rather than picked. motorPowerKwCont 190 is a conversion of the published '255 HP continuous (Economy Mode)'; no peak figure is published, and Freightliner gives no kW. torqueNm left null for the same reason as the eCascadia: 11,500 / 23,000 lb-ft are axle-output torques, not motor torques. Charging power in kW is not published for the eM2 (unlike the eCascadia, where 180 kW single-port / 270 kW dual-port is given), so dcPeakKw is null. Daimler's own ePortfolio page dates the eM2 to 'series production since 2018', which refers to the eM2 106 customer-trial programme; the current production eM2 launched around 2022. modelYearFrom 2022 is therefore approximate - flagged. Battery chemistry not published - left null.
