FAW Jiefang J6P 6x4 charging / battery-swap tractor

350 kWh in a CATL LFP pack and 200 km of range — the J6P is the Chinese swap tractor in its purest form.

The EvCompass verdict

The key arguments drawn from the published data and the EvCompass editorial summary.

A kerb weight of 10.89 tonnes against a permitted 25 shows how much of such a vehicle is battery — and why the Chinese model favours swapping over a bigger pack. A top speed of 89 km/h is the norm for this class, not a limit of this particular model. No price was found for the electric version.

Strengths

  • The 350.07 kWh battery supports both charging and swapping, so the J6P is not limited to one energy-refill method.

Weaknesses

  • The 200 km range belongs to the 282 kWh variant, while no separate figure is published for the larger 350.07 kWh pack.

SWAP-CAPABLE: the type approval CA4250P66T1BEVA2 is explicitly a 'battery charging / swapping' tractor. FAW does not publish a swap time for the J6P; its sister J6L quotes 5 minutes. Peak DC charging power not published.

Price and availability

What it costs and whether it is available in Poland

Published price evidence and the Polish availability answer, kept together for a buying decision.

The manufacturer publishes no price for this vehicle.

In heavy transport that is the rule rather than the exception — makers quote on request.

No guide price found for the battery-electric J6P. For scale only: the diesel/LNG J7 6x4 tractor guide price is CNY 410,000-590,000, and Chinese trade analysis puts 4x2 pure-electric tractors generally at CNY 400,000-600,000. Do not treat either as this model's price.

Charging infrastructure

Recommended chargers

Chargers matched to the vehicle's published power or to a clearly stated duty profile when that figure is missing.

This vehicle does not publish its own DC charging power. The chargers below are matched to a charging profile typical for this class of vehicle (around 350 kW), not to a figure this vehicle publishes.

Research notes

The sources and research notes behind the figures, claims and editorial assessment.

Type approval CA4250P66T1BEVA2. 350.07 kWh CATL LFP pack, CRRC TZ400XS035 permanent-magnet synchronous motor, kerb 10.89 t, gross mass 25 t, max drawing capacity 37.98 t, max speed 89 km/h, 3-seat cab, 10 wheels. A parallel 282 kWh variant is the one quoted at 360 kW / 2,500 Nm / 200 km by The Autopian - the motor and torque figures therefore belong to the 282 kWh build and may not apply unchanged to the 350 kWh build. SODIUM-ION: in June 2026 FAW ran a J6P pure-electric tractor with a 339 kWh sodium-ion pack claiming 90 % capacity retention in extreme cold and a 20-25 minute full charge - a test vehicle, not a catalogue model. SISTER MODEL: the J6L pure-electric tractor uses a 400 kWh CATL AD-series pack (4,500 cycles, 8-year / 1.8 million kWh warranty) and FAW markets it as '5-minute swap, 600 km of range' - that claim is arithmetically implausible for a 400 kWh pack on a loaded tractor and should not be reproduced as fact. IMAGE GAP: FAW has no accessible English press image library for its BEV tractors.
