Independent heavy-vehicle dossier

CATL Qiji Energy chassis battery-swap platform #75 Choco-SEB

This is not a vehicle but a battery-swap platform — 171 kWh blocks, around 300 stations and the 1,250 km Chengdu–Wuhan trunk line.

Buying decision

The EvCompass verdict

The key arguments drawn from the published data and the EvCompass editorial summary.

We put this in the database because battery swapping is a structural difference between Chinese and European electric road freight, not a technical detail: a Chinese tractor makes up for short range with a few-minute swap, while a European one must carry a battery for the whole shift. The three incompatible swap standards in China are the biggest risk here. There is no vehicle price, because there is no vehicle.

Strengths

  • Swapping the standard 171 kWh block takes under 5 minutes, reducing energy replenishment to a yard operation.

Weaknesses

  • This is a swap standard rather than a vehicle with its own gross weight, range or price, so it cannot be read like an ordinary model record.

On charging
THIS IS THE SWAP STANDARD ITSELF, not a charging spec. The #75 Choco-SEB is a standardised 171 kWh LFP block mounted in the truck chassis; a truck carries one, two or three blocks (171 / 342 / 513 kWh). A full swap takes under 5 minutes. Stations hold 24 packs and are compatible with over 95 % of mainstream Chinese heavy-truck models regardless of brand, using adaptive continuous-adjustment technology to handle different bodies and wheelbases.

Price and availability

What it costs and whether it is available in Poland

Published price evidence and the Polish availability answer, kept together for a buying decision.

The manufacturer publishes no price for this vehicle.

In heavy transport that is the rule rather than the exception — makers quote on request.

Not a vehicle, so no vehicle price. CATL's commercial claim is that Qiji chassis swap adds no vehicle purchase cost and saves CNY 30,000-60,000 per year for a truck doing ~200,000 km/year, or CNY 60,000 (about USD 8,320) per 100,000 km against a diesel. CATL's sales director has claimed a Chinese new-energy commercial vehicle saves about CNY 1.2 million (about EUR 146,000) against a diesel over a ten-year operating cycle.

Chargers matched to the vehicle's published power or to a clearly stated duty profile when that figure is missing.

This vehicle does not publish its own DC charging power. The chargers below are matched to a charging profile typical for this class of vehicle (around 375 kW), not to a figure this vehicle publishes.

Research notes

The sources and research notes behind the figures, claims and editorial assessment.

NOT A VEHICLE - this record describes the dominant Chinese heavy-truck battery-swap platform, included because battery swap is the defining structural difference between the Chinese and European heavy e-truck markets and because no single truck record can carry the story. An editor may want to render it differently from the vehicle records. Qiji Energy launched 12 June 2023 as the world's first all-in-one heavy-truck chassis battery-swap solution; the standardised #75 block followed in May 2024. Chemistry is third-generation LFP with CTP assembly and thermal-runaway prevention, rated for over 15,000 cycles. Scale: roughly 300 Qiji stations by end-2025 with 900 planned within the following year; CATL has launched 30+ swap-enabled heavy-truck models with more than a dozen vehicle manufacturers; the longest trunk line runs 1,250 km one-way from Chengdu to Wuhan. CATL also bought 24.87 % of Qiyuan Green Power for CNY 2.56 billion (about EUR 330 M), making it China's largest heavy-truck swap operator - Qiyuan uses a different, rear-mounted standard with ~1,600 stations in 208 cities and mostly serves mines, ports, steelworks and construction sites. THREE incompatible swap standards coexist in China. Market context: nearly 30,000 swappable-battery heavy trucks were registered in China in 2024; 231,100 new-energy heavy trucks were registered in 2025 (+182 %, 29 % share), and in December 2025 electric trucks outsold diesel in China for the first time at 45,300 units and 54 % share.
