The EvCompass verdict

The key arguments drawn from the published data and the EvCompass editorial summary.

MZA Warsaw ran a year-long trial from May 2023, covered 79,700 kilometres and only then bought 30 units — a purchasing path visible nowhere on the truck side. A Chinese bus passed Polish in-service verification and won a tender at a public price. Imported by Busnex Poland.

Strengths

  • A year of in-service trials in Poland before purchase.

Weaknesses

  • The manufacturer’s 422.87 kWh capacity conflicts with published 434, 466 and 528 kWh options, so the battery variant needs clarification.

operator/importer figure, 'up to 400 km on one charge'; MZA Warsaw's trial recorded a best day of 403 km in normal service. Yutong marketing has also quoted 'over 432 km' and up to 600 km for larger packs - treat the higher figures as optimistic.

Research notes

The sources and research notes behind the figures, claims and editorial assessment.

The U12 is Yutong's Europe-facing premium city bus (Design Label, Busworld Brussels 2019), distinct from the volume-export E12. Battery figures conflict badly: Yutong's own European U12 page quotes 422.87 kWh liquid-cooled LFP, while trade press quotes pack options of 434 / 466 / 528 kWh. Recorded the manufacturer figure. Consumption from the MZA Warsaw trial is also reported two ways - 0.63 kWh/km on the record 403 km day and 0.89 kWh/km as a trial average - so consumption was left null. Motor power was not published by Yutong for the European U12. The Warsaw tender is the single best public price point in this whole dataset because the competing Solaris bid is disclosed alongside it.
